Back Pain

Back pain or injury can vary from a minor annoyance to a debilitating pain. At Thornleigh Performance Physiotherapy we will assess how your pain behaves and determine the right course of action based on a thorough examination in an effort to see which nerves, joints, muscles, and/or discs are involved.

Treatment may include advice regarding causes, exercise, a home exercise program, stretching, massage, dry needling, taping, activity modification, joint mobilisation or manipulation, postural correction, or any number of other things - each person is assessed and treated individually based on their presenting problem.

Injuries and conditions we treat include:

Neck & Shoulder Pain

Whether you just woke up with it or have had it for a number of years, neck pain can affect so many different of your body - shoulder pain, arm pain, upper back pain, sometimes, even chest pain! The most important first step is to determine where the pain is coming from, why it is there, and get you moving better-quickly!

Injuries and conditions we treat include:

Knee Pain

Knees are one of those things we don't appreciate until they don't work! The most common cause of non-traumatic knee pain is the knee cap not tracking properly in the groove. This is akin to driving a car with the wheels out of alignment - the longer it clicks and grinds, the longer it can take to fix. Other causes of knee pain are ligament and cartilage tears (usually from an incident), as well as arthritis. It is best to get it checked out as soon as possible when it comes to your knees.

Injuries and conditions we treat include:

Ankle and Foot Pain

Plantar Fasciitis, Severs' Disease, Arthritis, or foot stiffness - It's no fun hobbling around like a pirate with a peg leg. Treatment for foot pain requires a thorough assessment of your entire limb to see what isn't working properly, and may include strapping, orthotics, manual therapy/massage, ultrasound, dry needling and exercises.

Injuries and conditions we treat include:

Sports Injuries

Hamstrings, Quads, Calves and Groins or even ligament ruptures - you know you've done one when you hear the ping/feel the pop/or get the pain. Regardless of how it happens, your goal is our goal - get you back in action in the shortest time possible.

The first phases of recovery focus on pain relief and restoring movement, followed by getting your strength and reaction time back. You would be surprised how many old sports injuries are a factor in future injuries, so it's best to get it tended to and done right the first time.

Injuries and conditions we treat include:

Headaches and jaw pain

Ooh, my aching head! Headaches can come from different sources - the neck, the jaw, allergies, vascular problems, and many more... Like the neck, the first step is identifying where it is coming from and correct the fault.

Pregnancy-related pains

As your body changes to accommodate your baby, those adaptations can turn into pain and make everyday tasks difficult to achieve.

The good news is, most of the time there is no need to "wait it out" until delivery to get rid of the pain. There are many treatment options available to get you comfortable and able to resume your normal tasks with minimal or no pain.

Conditions we treat include:

Post-operative rehabilitation

Having had 4 knee surgeries himself, Pearce can attest to the trials and tribulations of rehabilitation - getting through the surgery is the easy part! We will work closely with your specialist and GP to ensure you are given the best opportunity for a full recovery.

Examples of injury management

In an effort to give you an insight into how our skilled physiotherapists work, we bring you a sample of actual cases and how they are managed.  As each individual is different and complex, please consider that specific results may differ from person to person and this is not to replace actual human interactions!
